February 2018 Awards Presented
The VFW is first and formost a service organization but we must rely on local citizens, businesses, public services and law enforcement personnel to help bring our mission to reality. At the general meeting of VFW Post 12135 on 2/21/18 two honorary plaques were presented to outstanding citizens.
In December 2017, we held a Veterans Appreciation luncheon luncheon for homeless and disadvantaged veterans in our area. The Country Kinfolk Cafe (270 Hickman St, Lenoir City, TN 37772) hosted our luncheon providing an excellent meal and fantastic service. Our veterans were treated with the respect and honor they deserve and the entire event was a great success.
Service Officer John Lacko and Commander Kenneth DeBoer made the presentation to CeCe Keeler and Cindy Riggs and thanked the owners and many staff members from Country Kinfolk in attendence for their efforts in making our event a success.
The 1st. Lt. Alexander Bonnyman Jr. VFW Post 12135 Officer of the Year award for 2017 was presented to Deputy Sheriff J. C. Schultz for outstanding service to the citizens of Loudon County. Sheriff Tim Guider and Commander Kenneth DeBoer presented the award to Deputy Schultz. Also front and center for the presentation were: Captain Jeff Russell, Chief Deputy Jimmy Davis and Assistant Chief Deputy Tony Arden. Numerous other law enforcement officers were in attendance as well. Buddy Bradshaw Mayor of Loudon County also commended Deputy Schultz for his service to the community.
