WHO SAYS THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH?
Knoxville, TN –
VFW Post 12135 post members assembled recently at Berry Highlands Memorial Cemetery for a photo shoot at the grave site of 1st Lt. Alexander Bonnyman, Jr., the post’s namesake, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for action at Tarawa during WWII. Photos were taken in anticipation of having one of them published in a November 2018 VFW Magazine article about Bonnyman and the battle.
Following the photo shoot, post members had lunch nearby at the Colonel’s Cafe (Newcom Ave. just off Kingston Pike.) where several enjoyed the best corned beef hash in East Tennessee! As post members got ready to pay the restaurant tab, they were informed an anonymous diner had already paid for the entire group, including gratuity…a fine ending to a nice morning!
